Search for user and password locks
The test for the assignment of the SAP_ALL profile is carried out in the SOS differently than in the EWA: If a user is found, assigned to SAP_ALL, and you have not entered it in the corresponding whitelist, it will still be hidden in the subsequent permission checks. Identified users will be output either through a complete list or through examples of specific users. In both cases, you can download the full list in the SAP Solution Manager's ST14 transaction. You can use the Check ID to map user lists to the permission checks. However, you should note that these lists do not contain the evaluations of the whitelists.
Wildgrowth of characters used in user IDs can have negative effects. Set a bar on it by limiting the character set in the first place. In the SAP system, depending on the release of the SAP_BASIS software component, you can create users whose names may contain "alternative" spaces. In Unicode systems, there are different spaces, which are represented by different hexadecimal values. The usual space has a hexadecimal value of 20, but there are alternative spaces (wide spaces), which can be recognised, for example, as double width or not at all as character spacing. You can use these alternate spaces when entering the user ID by pressing the Alt key. For example, the key combination (Alt) + 0160 can create a space with a non-breaking space. You can also create a user whose ID consists only of alternate spaces. Users with such IDs will write all change documents, but the IDs can still cause confusion if, for example, they are not recognisable as a user ID or if it appears that no user is displayed for the change document. In addition, certain special characters may cause problems in other applications (e.g. in transport management). Therefore, we will show you how to prevent such problems by limiting the character set.
Context-dependent authorizations
Depending on your SAP NetWeaver release status, you must include SAP Note 1731549 or a support package. After that, it is no longer possible to create new users whose names consist only of variants of spaces or non-visible special characters. Changes to existing users are still possible. The customising switch BNAME_RESTRICT, also included in SAP Note 1731549, allows you to control whether you want to allow alternate spaces at certain locations of the user ID.
Upgrades also require that the eligibility roles be revised. In this context, you can use the SAP_NEW profile for support. During an upgrade, changes and enhancements to permissions checks are included in SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP. In order for users to continue to perform their previous actions in the SAP system as usual, you as the permission administrator must revise or add to the authorisation expressions within the framework of the established permission concept. Basically, you use the transaction SU25 for this purpose. For the transition period, you can use the SAP_NEW permission until the permission concept is up to date on the new release. Since the handling of SAP_NEW is not always transparent and the question arises, for example, when the profile should be assigned and when not, we explain the background here.
Secure your go-live additionally with "Shortcut for SAP systems". You can assign necessary SAP authorizations quickly and easily directly in the system.
SAP Basis is the foundation of any SAP system. You can find a lot of useful information about it on this page: www.sap-corner.de.
After rolling the profiles do not match your last changes? With the new features in the transport management of rolls, you can avoid such inconsistencies and connect role maintenance to the customising setting.
The freeware Scribble Papers is a "note box" in which all kinds of data can be stored. It takes in typed texts as well as graphics and entire documents. The data is then organised in folders and pages.
