In addition to the optimisation potential of Security Automation, which I explained in more detail in my last post, the E-Learning division also offers numerous possibilities for automation. Since many companies are not yet making the most of these potentials due to a lack of knowledge about this particular form of knowledge transfer, I would like to address this in the following post. E-learning is also a form of automation that, if used correctly, brings many positive aspects. In the end, e-learning is a way to store know-how in a form that can be retrieved again and again. This means, of course, a certain initial effort for the creator, which nevertheless pays off more than if the quality is sufficient. What are the opportunities for a company to take advantage of e-learning? A company has several ways in which it can exploit and use the area of e-learning for itself. The fundamental question that should arise immediately after the decision to do so is whether the company creates the content itself or whether it relies on the content from external sources. Both have advantages and disadvantages, which I would like to explain in the following.

SAP Basis - trends for the coming years
New risks in SAP HANA: In addition to the known risks, there are also new risks from the use of SAP HANA. A very good example are frequently used web applications that represent something new in the SAP area. In contrast to an SAP ERP system, HANA systems consist mainly of web applications, which were considered optional in the previous versions. These web applications can be found by various search engines on the Internet. This also applies to SAP Portal or Netweaver. There are URL schemes that help locate the system. This also applies to other SAP systems that use Web applications. This makes the new technology vulnerable to typical web attacks. SQL Injection, ABAP Code Injection, or XSS are all included. All risks known for a normal SAP system also apply to a SAP-HANA system. The data is stored unencrypted in RAM. Only then does the system gain this speed advantage. This results in risks such as a read-out by memory scraping malware. These pick up data in memory. Encryption costs performance, so it is not used by default. Especially during a migration HANA runs in a parallel system, therefore at least one new system comes to your landscape. Also note: HANA has its own tools and settings that need to be known and configured. The bottom line is that the system simply needs more attention when operating. Many settings often result in more errors. Three - points - HANA Security Plan 1) Roles and permissions In a previous SAP system, roles and permissions are certainly one of the main pillars of a secure system. Roles and permissions work differently in a HANA system. There are two types of users: 1) Default (limited): With this type of user, there are different access methods to the database. For example, the JDBC or HTTP technologies are used to give two examples.

As an SAP Basis administrator, you are faced with the challenge of balancing acute daily business and recurring routine tasks. As the complexity of the systems and the interdependencies tend to increase, the challenges are great and the requirements are growing. Daily and at the same time business-critical routine tasks are SAP job control and regular data backups. Automating these tasks can free up time for the day-to-day business of maintenance, servicing, support and troubleshooting. Clear monitoring and alerting in the event of an error help to maintain operational reliability and meet corporate compliance requirements.

For administrators, a useful product - "Shortcut for SAP Systems" - is available in the SAP basis area.

In this article you will learn where the dangers lie if you do not limit the user ID.

To store all the information on the subject of SAP - and others - in a knowledge database, Scribble Papers is suitable.
