SAP S/4HANA: Analysis and simple adjustment of your authorizations
Users' favourite lists provide valuable information about the transactions they use. With the knowledge of the favourites, you can therefore avoid gaps in your authorisation concept. In the SAP system, each user has the ability to save frequently used functions as their own favourites. In practice, we have found that this feature is very often used by users. If you create a new permission concept, it is useful to include the favourites in the viewing. Because the favourites don't just store used transactions over and over again, but also transactions that users use only occasionally. These occasional transactions could be quickly forgotten when redesigning a eligibility concept. Therefore, we always recommend that you match the transactions you have considered with the favourites stored in your system.

Thus, after evaluation, you can select all SAP hints with the status to implement and load directly into the Note Assistant (transaction SNOTE) of the connected system. This is only possible for a development system and if the SAP Solution Manager can use an appropriate RFC connection to the connected system. You should also consider the security advisories that apply to applications that are installed on your system but that you do not use productively. These vulnerabilities can also be used for an attack.

If a search result is generated, you can even search for roles that have permissions for the selected alternative applications. To do this, click the Roles button (Use in Single Roles). When using this tool, make sure that even if applications have the same startup properties, there may be different usage characteristics, such as SU22 and SU24 transactions. Both transactions have the same start properties, but are used for different purposes and display different data.

This advanced functionality of the transaction SU53 is delivered via a patch. Please refer to SAP Note 1671117 for more information on the required support packages and technical background. Unsuccessful permission checks are now written to a ring buffer of the application server's Shared Memories. This will allow you to view failed permission checks in Web Dynpro applications or other user interfaces, which was not previously possible. Depending on the size of the ring buffer and system usage, up to 100 failed permissions checks per user can be displayed for the last three hours. The size of the ring buffer is calculated from the number of defined work processes. By default, 100 permission checks can be saved per workprocess. You can adjust this size using the auth/su53_buffer_entries profile parameter.
