Goal of an authorization concept
Analysis and reporting tool for SAP SuccessFactors ensures order and overview
In a redesign, we follow the principle of job-related workstation roles to technically map the job profile of the employees. To minimize the effort for the same job profiles with different organizational affiliations, the organizational units are inherited via an additional role. The separation of technical and organizational requirements greatly simplifies role development and modification. If certain people, such as team leaders, require extended authorizations, key user roles are developed for them, which extend the existing job role.

In many distributed organisations, the Profit Centre is used to map out the distributed units. However, this was only possible for FI with additional programming. In integrated data flows in SAP ERP, the sending application usually does not check the authorization objects of the receiving application. Financial Accounting (FI) in SAP does not check permissions for cost centres and profit centres. However, depending on the case of use, this may be necessary, e.g. if distributed entities are to operate as small enterprises within the enterprise and only collect and view data for this particular unit at a time. With the introduction of the new general ledger, SAP has technically merged the financial accounting and the profit centre account, so that the question of the inclusion of profit centre allowances in FIs becomes even more important.

All permission checks are issued in table form as an ALV list. You can sort or filter this list by column. Furthermore, all the new features of the transaction ST01, which we listed at the beginning of this tip, have been applied for evaluation. Double-clicking on a authorization object will direct you to the authorization object definition, and double-clicking on the transaction will direct you to the programme location where the permission check is performed. For more tips on how to use this trace, see Tip 32, "Maintain permission values using trace evaluations," and Tip 39, "Maintain suggestion values using trace evaluations.".

Once a permission concept has been created, the implementation in the system begins. On the market, there are solutions that create PFCG rolls based on Microsoft Excel in the blink of an eye. You should, however, take a few things into account. Have you defined your roles in the form of role matrices and your organisational levels (orgés) in the form of organisational sets (orgsets)? All of this is stored in Excel documents and now you want a way to simply pour this information into PFCG rolls at the push of a button, without having to create lengthy role menus or then derive large amounts of roles, depending on how many organisational sets you have defined?

If you get into the situation that authorizations are required that were not considered in the role concept, "Shortcut for SAP systems" allows you to assign the complete authorization for the respective authorization object.

SAP Basis is the foundation of any SAP system. You can find a lot of useful information about it on this page: www.sap-corner.de.
